Taxis
A fleet of local taxis are available on Ikaria and it is recommended to arrange your trip in advance by calling, especially in the summer time when demand is high. Designated taxis stands can also be found at the airport and ports of Evdilos and Agios Kirikos, where it is possible to sometimes hail a taxi on the spot, but it is always best to arrange your trip in advance.
Taxi fares on Ikaria can seem expensive compared to Athens or other metropolitan cities because the Greek Islands are zoned as "outside city limits" and the rate per km is much higher. All taxis in Ikaria are equipped with a meter and "technically" you should pay whatever the meter indicates plus any extra charges, although it may be possible to sometimes negotiate a set price in advance.

Buses
During the summer season a local network of buses connects major transportation points and towns in Ikaria.
The main route is between:- RACHES - ARMENISTIS - EVDILOS - AGIOS KIRIKOS - FAROS - AIRPORT
Other routes are between:
- AGIOS KIRIKOS - THERMA - FAROS
- AGIOS KIRIKOS - EVDILOS - ARMENISTIS - RACHES
The bus schedules are not available in advance of the summer season so you need to check locally in Ikaria for current times and days.
Locally operated boats between ports in Ikaria and nearby islands
A number of smaller local ferries and coastal boats operate in Ikaria both year round and/or seasonally. During the summer months a water taxi connects Agios Kirikos with Therma at regular intervals. The boat used is a traditional wooden "Venzina" and the short trip makes for an interesting and inexpensive excursion along the coast. There is also a water taxi operating daily roundtrips between the port in Magganitis and nearby Seychelles Beach during the summer.
